But he knows it’s pointless, so he leaves the couch and burrows in the warm blankets and soft pillows of his bed. The cat looks on nonchalant, regarding the dogs with disdain and a look of pure contempt. His white whiskers vibrating as he sniffs the air and with a swish of his long black tail, turns to head back to his warm bed.
The little red dog has abandoned the plastic bone which now lies forgotten for another day. She has burrowed herself in the warmth of the old quilt. The house is silent as the critters settle in for the night except for the lady whom all the animals long for her attention. But for her there is no warm quilt to burrow into, no soft pillows to rest upon. The lady must cook dinner.
